Re: Re: Swing angle (fast pitch softball)

Phil C posted a question about how to get is daughter swinging up at the ball. The discussion got off topic. There were several responses but I really didn't get the sense of answers to my question.

the slight upswing is the best to match the plane even in softball.

>>To clarify my earlier question I indicated that I was trying to get my daughter to swing with a slight upper cut with the emphsis on slight. I also indicated that I was trying to get her to swing with the bat angled downward and her left elbow up which is the result of a lowered rear shoulder. Now, I know that won't often be the case if the ball is between waist and shoulder level. However, anything at the waist or below in my mind requires a swing with the bat angled downward and the rear shoulder lowered. I have seen it over and over again where a young player will bend their knees and lower their body to try and hit a low pitch. This then results in excessive head movement and loss of tourqe.
