Actually, according the most educated analysts, the only difference between the golf swing and the baseball swing is the plane. All other things are extremely similar. The spine/pelvis/shoulder angles are impacted by the path the club has to be taken to the ball.

Folks

I don't know of any educated analysts who think the swings are
similar other than plane and would run the opposite direction if
one ever said such a thing to me.

Why talk about golf? If you mean hitting a ball on a batting tee is
similar to golf, okay. But that's not hitting and that's not baseball.

You need eyesight, courage, relexes and a host of other things to hit
a baseball in games that golf doesn't require. I don't buy the theory
of "yeah, but once that is out of the way, the route and sequencing
of the swing is the same."

Those factors probably dictate the route and sequencing of the
baseball swing far more than we can ever know.

Golf. Phooey.

Also, good hitters move NOTHING like good punchers do. The differ-
ences on video are so obvious.

I am all for simple, clear teaching, but let's not reduce our
descriptions of the task to the point they are meaningless.
