Re: the hard part

I was in carolina this weekend for the usc-miss. state series, and as I watched bp I saw many from both teams just tee off with great mech. However when the games started many looked poor at the plate,I noticed that they were often off balance or just chased bad pitches with ugly swings ,however those that did hit well hit pretty consistent over the weekend. It seems to me that mechanics are able to be achieved far more often than hitters are able to be created. It also makes me think that their are tougher parts to becoming a successful hitter than just having good mechanics.

rql, How right you are. Good mechanics help most when you are looking for a pitch and get it. When the pitcher changes speeds or paints with a fastball and gets you off balance, you are then toast. That is why 3 out of 10 is great. When the brain is fooled by the pitch, it does not matter what kind of mechanics you have. Learning the mental aspect of hitting is just as important as learning the mechanics of the swing.
