Once again many hitters let go of there top hand it does not matter because by the time they let go the ball has already left the bat. Nobody swings with one hand NOBODY. Does anybody here actually know what this site is about.

> > > > That is completely false. If you breakdown any hitter who swings a bat the ball is off the bat completely before they even let go of the top hand. SO it does not matter if you let go of it or not because the ball is off the bat at the point of contact. That is why some hitters do or do not it's just a comfort or psychological thing. If I rake and don't let go of the top hand I'm still going to rake weather I let go of it or not. The top hand goes along for the ride any ways the lead shoulder is your power hand if anything.

> > > HUH?!?! by definition the power hand makes the greatest power..that's why it is called the power hand as opposed to your lesser or weaker hand.. are you so strong you can afford to diminish the power your power hand generates? logically speaking, if you can do that you must be so good you must already be in MLB... not. not with that mentality... you are telling me the weak is the strong & the strong is of no importance.. i can tell by this conversation you are having some serious problems with your hitting.

Those who release do so 5 to 8 video frames PAST contact. Now, we did have couple of middle school fastpitch girls this year who released at contact. As soon as we changed that habit, their bats immediately stopped bouncing off the ball!

In our program, lead arm strength conditioning and correct bottom hand mechanics are one of the focus points in the training of our hitters. There was a time in years past when we did not stress this aspect of the swing. As we learned more we began to do a better job of breaking the swing down and putting in effective drills that have created very positive results.

> i can endorse the bottom hand exerting force to rotate the bat around a vertical axis between the hands... but that is not the primary source of the energy being imparted to the bat... there are far bigger & stronger parts of your body which are generating far greater power to the hands...to concentrate on the last part of the swing to generate the batspeed is to overlook the first 90% of the action involved... not good.
> even though the photo shows the hand releases 5 frames after contact, it does not show exactly WHEN YOU BEGIN TO RELEASE THE PRESSURE YOU ARE EXERTING ON THE BAT... it is not like a light switch, where one instant you are exerting full pressure, & the next instant it is fully released from the bat... instead there are a few hundredths of a second PRIOR to the release point where you start to loosen the pressure, or begin to relax your grip...thus you are slowing your bat prior to the release of your hand..
> this is where most hitters fail themselves:
> FROM THE MOMENT YOU BEGIN YOUR SWING, YOU SHOULD NOT BE CONCENTRATING ON JUST SWINGING THE BAT... RATHER YOU SHOULD BE CONCENTRATING ON EXPLODING YOUR BODY ENERGY, WHICH TRANSLATES TO FASTER OVERALL BODY PART MOVEMENTS & TRYING TO EXPEND MORE & MORE ENERGY AS YOU SWING & TRY TO ACCELERATE & CONTINUE TO TRY TO ACCELERATE YOUR SWING ALL THE WAY THRU THE BALL... THE BAT SHOULD BE ACCELERATING FASTER AT THE END OF YOUR SWING THAN AT ANY OTHER TIME.. TO DROP YOUR HAND OFF THE BAT AT ANY TIME WILL ONLY SLOW THE BAT, IN CONTRAVENTION TO YOUR GOAL OF MAKING MORE POWER.regardless of what your name is, every player needs to make more batspeed, thus more power.. NO ONE is so great that they can afford the luzury of dropping their power hand off the bat AT ANY TIME BEFORE THEY ARE COMPLETELY CORKSCREWED.. just so they can stand there & pose for the cameras...
> watch barry bonds or ichiro (when he is not throwing the bat at the outside pitch in an attempt to poke a grounder thru the infield) when they are unloading on the down/in pitch.. they are both dropping the head of the bat on the ball, & CONTINUE TO SWING THRU THE BALL UNTIL THEY ARE COMPLETELY CORKSCREWED, WITH BOTH HANDS STILL ON THE BAT.
> i coach my students to duct tape their power hand to the bat, & swing one-handed for about 15 minutes every day,as well as in batting practice.. thus enforcing the idea in their mind that they are right handed, & that is the hand they must rely on to make the most power.. they learn to tap into ALL the power their power hand can give them.. they learn they cannot afford NOT to use untapped power at their disposal.. to do so is to NOT attain maximum proficiency.
