My bat angle is also slightly upward, but it isnt an uppercut and I keep hitting the top half of the ball and pouding the ball into the ground? Does anyone have any drills to correct these two problems?

Sounds to me like you are rolling your top wrist over, at or slightly before contact, and are actually making contact with the ball in the extension part of your swing instead of the contact portion, you are actually reaching for the ball. If this is during tee work or soft toss, make sure the ball is being positioned slightly behind where your lead foot is landing. My daughter was having the same problem, and we realized her stride was off and she was landing short, and having to reach for the ball. Hope this helps.
