>>> Hi Jack
It seems to me if a hitter slots his rear elbow berore he
starts his rotation,his hands will be at the proper position.
This seems to help keep the arc tighter and helps to form the
v in the back arm. These adjustments helps my grandkids and
my students.Your thoughts on these observations.

A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR <<<

Hi Bob

By slotting the rear elbow, I suppose you mean your student starts with a raised back elbow and then lowers it before rotating. Or, would you have your students have the elbow already at their sides in their stance and start rotation from there. The reason I ask is because it depends on what the batter’s mechanics accomplishes as he lowers the elbow.

I have my students start with their elbow down at their side. However, as they progress, I have them raise the elbow and learn mechanics (THT) that attains greater rearward acceleration of the bat-head (to the lag position) which is aided by the lowering of the elbow. Therefore, as I mentioned earlier, having the elbow raised or at their side, depends on whether or not the batter’s mechanics first accelerates the bat-head rearward before directing their energy toward the ball.

Happy New Year Bob
