Don't know if I agree about bat speed of long vs short. I say compact is faster acceleration. This site should be named Bat Acceleration because that is very important. They are quite different. Speed = feet /second Acceleration = feet /second 2 (squared). They are quite different. An accelerating bat is going faster each millimeter it travels than the previous one. Bat Speed post contact is higher when the bat is accelerating. Compact rotational swings are accelerating from bat launch.Acceleration through impact may be more important than bat speed at impact at similar velocities.
