Re: swing problems

Posted by: Mister X () on Fri Jun 13 07:42:51 2003

I am a converted golfer who hasn't played baseball in 15 years (little league) my golf swing can generate swing speed in excess of 100 mph. However, I cannot hit the ball out of the infield, I either pop up or ground to short (I'm right handed). Any ideas?

Golf and baseball swings are very similar. Remember, though, that the bat weighs more than the club, so your batspeed will be less than 100mph (maybe as low as 70 or 80 mph????). But that still is fine. Basically, you're not hitting the ball squarely (on the sweetspot). You're grounding out to short could be because your wrists are rolling. Try waiting longer, and not "going out after the ball". Where are you poping out to? If it's mostly to right, then your bathead might be dragging through the zone. And the wrist roll and bathead dragging are probably related.
