Re: Hitters Count

Posted by: dougdinger () on Thu Jul 10 19:00:05 2003

I have been teaching my kids to maximize their plate coverage try hitting up the middle with the count 0-0 2-2 3-2 2-1, and look to hit their pitch 2-0 3-0 3-1. Any thoughts un this ?

I wouldn't advise hitting up the middle. Hit the ball where it is pitched (pull inside pitch, spray outside pitch). You're right about picking your pitch on 3-0, 3-1, and 2-0, although I'm eery about 3-0. It's almost always a take. Also, whenever you're ahead or tied in the count, always look for a decent pitch. Whenever you have 2 strikes, always protect.
