Maybe it's not about the batter hitting, but about the hitter batting. Studying the pitcher is very important. Maybe he can hit your pitches because he sees the ball descending from your release, and not so much from a young pitcher his age.

Watching the game at his age is just as important as playing. He needs to get used to the ball pitched from a lower elevation, it that difference can be pretty tricky. If he has his mechanics down, then the pitcher's timing and release elevation are other important aspects on which to focus.
