Mike, He has the 'common cold" of 8-12 yo swings. His bat is not centered at toe touch. Working Epstein drills in my opinion will not help this. I have high school kids doing it too.

The centered bat is easiest to see for me . It tells if the shoulders loaded (as /before) the hips start opening. If they did not then sparation will not occur and chicken winging, hitting too far out front will occur as well has total loss of power.

I watch Cabrera? bat off Smoltz the other night. Expecting the heat he had his hands back , shoulder preloaded, in the waiting position. He knew he would have a better chance if he was loaded first. Not every MLB hitter does the inward coil AS they stride to hit. They make adjustments to cheat the systen given the speed and quality of the pitcher.
