Re: Proper Throwing Mechanics

Posted by: THE HITTING GURU () on Sun Aug 24 18:10:55 2003

I know this is a Hitting Site, but Im Hoping there might be some people here that can help me out with my throwing mechanics, or direct me somewhere that will help. Recently, Everytime I throw it just feels weird. Either my fingers come off too soon, or it feels they have stuck threw the whole release. Ive heard ur fingers should roll, but i cant get them to roll. This might be the root to my eratic throwing. Going over my targets hed, over short hoping them. My Email is Ripp_5@hotmail.com. If Nayone Can Help Me in Anyway, Send me an Email or Reply. Thanks

Make sure that when you grasp the ball your 2nd and 3rd fingers are across the seams like you were about to throw a fastball. (See Nolan Ryans pitcher's Bible) Do drills of trying to hit a target at progessively longer distances such as 5ft, 10ft, 15ft, etc. until you reach your desired distance. Through concentration your accuracy will improve even if your mechanics do not. (See Tom Emanski's Dynamic practice and defensive drills training video.)
