Re: Re: Swinging a Heavier Bat to Increase Bat Speed

I would like to know if swinging a heavier bat then your normal bat would increase your bat speed significantly. For instance, if during the off-season you were to apply a donut to your bat and swing that for 100 swings a day, everyday, for a month. Then next month apply a second donut to the bat and use that the same way as the bat before. Then the next month use a heavier bat and apply both donuts and do the same thing again. If you were to follow this routine until baseball season would your batspeed be significantly increased? The muscles in your body used during the swing must be increased greatly, so would the idea of an increase in batspeed be true.

This means that if you swing a bat that is a few ounces heavier you will be able to use that same bat over time with the same velocity you had with your original bat. It also means that when you go back to your original bat that bat will feel lighter, which means more batspeed.

Just make sure you continue to swing it correctly. I have seen high school kids put two rings on a bat and swing and let the bat weight pull them onto the front leg....bad stuff for the on deck circle.
