I would just like to say how much I appreciate the open forum

Exactly. Jack's willingness to tolerate all viewpoints has always impressed me. I think it's clear he has differences of opinion with some other instructors but to my knowledge he has never censored any serious post on this board. And when it comes to the occassional troll, he is much more patient than I would be.

As to Mike's program. I have always felt his teaching was strong from the feet to the shoulders and between the ears. Not so strong from the shoulders to the bathead (where Jack focuses) except maybe in terms of feel. I'm sure Mike's hands didn't go directly to the pitcher in his playing days, but I wouldn't be surprised if it "felt" that way when he was hooking the handpath. Speaking of hooking the handpath, I've read too many different people over the past few years to remember. Isn't "hooking the handpath" a Nyman phrase and isn't "arcing handpath" the Mankin phrase? In any case, as long as one understands the difference, "feel" can be a useful teaching tool.

I still say the primary purpose of THT is to set up flail (Nyman term) and swing radius (concept Jack helped me understand in a different way). : )
