Jack what about Distance from plate?

Posted by: Joe A. (Mgtsupport@AOL.com) on Sun Aug 6 07:23:30 2000

Jack,

Starting from a specific stance,

moving the bat back to a specific pre-launch position

and using the swing mechanics causing a specific bat path

All these things will determine how far the hands will be from the hitters body during the swing.

I beleive all these statements are accurate. Given this, why is there no dicussion of how far batters should be from the plate? I notice that this is a common problem for young hitters in particular.

I beleive that the distance the batter stands from the plate will have a great impact on effectiveness, and will alter the swing.

I haven't seen this subject adressed by any one.

Joe A.
