popping up at higher speeds

Perhaps this is one of those, "I've got to see the swing" questions.

In batting cage using Jugs pitching machine, my son (class of 2004) hits 80% of pitches solid at speeds of 85mph or less. Since he was added to a fall scout team we have starting hitting a bucket (60balls) or two at speeds between 80 and 100mph (of course speeds are approximates since we're going by Jugs settings, we don't have access to a radar gun).

At higher speeds he pops up 80% of the time. He bats right and so a lot of the pop-ups hit top of cage one or two feet in front of him, directly to his right. However, most of the balls hit top of cage immediately in front of him. Thus, there seems to be more happening than simply swinging late.

We've taped his swings, reviewing hands, shoulders, hips, head, etc, but we can't seem to figure out what's happening.

We're missing something, any suggestions as to what?
