>>> Do batting gloves affect bat speed? left hand, right hand, both neither?<<<

Hi Hardy

With high level mechanics, the positions of the hands on the bats stay in sync with the bat's angular velocity and therefore cause little wear & tear on the hands. But even with good mechanics, the hands can get a little raw after a couple hundred swing practice without batting gloves.

However, wearing gloves to get a better grip on the bat can be counter-productive to generating bat speed and a smooth swing plane. Below are a couple posts I wrote on this topic.

THT and the Grip

Hand Position - Grip

Note: In the last post, there is a link to a "Bat/Ball Collision Study" that shows the tightness of the grip has no impact on the ball's exit speed.
