Re: Re: bat length

Jane,
I think 32" or maybe even 33" would be the best length, looking only at length. The problem comes in the weight of the bat. Since we can only use a -5 drop (-3 in high school) he has to trade off bat weight and bat length. The last 2 years we went with the 30" to keep at a 25 oz. bat. If we could use a -12 drop like you 10 year old, he would definitely use a 32/20 or 33/21. I was looking for feedback on the issue of bat length vs bat weight and what was the better tradeoff.
Thanks for your posting!
Joe H

My 10 year old uses a 30/18 bat and is 5'2", and I was thinking he may soon need a longer bat. Most of the 10 year olds in his league use that size. I would have thought a 30 inch bat would be small for someone who is 5'9". Do most boys that size use a 30 inch?

His league allows a -5 drop, and he has been using a 30/25, but he has gotten taller (about 5' 9" now) and I am wondering if he should move to a longer bat, say 32", even though it will add a couple of ounces of weight. Any suggestions or thoughts?
