Re: back spin for home runs

Posted by: Dave A (oxagin@hotmail.com) on Fri Nov 28 06:16:41 2003

what are some good drills or things to practice getting backspin when hitting the ball...back spin helps the ball travel,

well im gonna try to explain this as best as i can... if you hit the lower has of the ball or a greater part of the lower half, the ball will always have backspin. it is impossible for the ball to come off the bat with topspin that way. therefore if you use rotational mechanics and make the right contact, you will hit the ball solid (get enough of the center) while getting backspin and loft (getting a little more under the ball than over it). hopefully you can understand what i'm saying. i know it wasn't the best description.
