Re: stop &push drill......uh?

I own and operate a training facility in my home town and I have seen and heard of many different or strange drills in my time of which some make sense and some do not. Recently a few of my students went to a Division I college hitting clinic(Fast pitch softball) to get some exposure.
> One of the coaches there had them do a stop and push drill off the tee. She had them swing at the tee with no ball on it and then stop their swing at the contact point and then push. She told them this was done to teach them to not roll their wrist. I think she had good intentions with this drill but I personally disagree with this method. I would think that it does a couple of things to your swing.... 1. I believe by doing this drill it makes you go linear rather then rotational. 2. It it seems to me that this drill would train your muscle memory to stop or slow your swing down at contact. I am interested in what some of you think of this stop and push

drill....
