Should "door knocking" knuckles be aligned when holding the bat or is this strictly a linear mechanics concept?

I have come full circle with this. I bought into the knocking knuckles for a while but I soon learned that it is just not so. The top hand is more comfortable with the knuckles lined up to where you would wear a ring on the bottom hand. THe most important issue is the knuckles on the bottom hand should be on the plane of the pitch just like the lead elbow. The rear elbow slotting can align the knocking knuckles at impact. So maybe the grip if loose and comfortable might change through the swing slightly if the lead elbow works up and the rear elbow works down. Grip is very important but the slight offset is seen more in MLB.. IMO
