Teacherman

To make a decision about all swings based on one swing by one person during a homerun hitting contest is not what defines what happens everytime or what is the best. In situations where the player hits the ball further out front the arms must extend forward in order to contact the ball and the ability of the player to 'extend' their arms to hit the ball is required. However if Giambi in the clip hit the ball 1 foot further back what you would see would be different.

The shoulders rotate the arms and then the arms will extend when rotation is complete if the bat has not hit the ball or the hitter would be pulling off the ball. The snapping of the wrist to the timing of the ball is very important so bathead speed is maximized.
