>>> That's a trick answer in some respects, because all of my weight is on my feet, but the feeling of having weight on the knees is much less than what it used to be. Said another way, my feet are not contributing to hip rotation, which takes away the snapping leg action that cursed me during my linear days. My legs don't snap any more and I'm happy, but the biggest contribution has been the lack of head movement. In new swings, my head actually will go back behind center during the swing. All forward head movement stops at foot plant....that's a big change for me. Additionally, my batspeed is felt in my core and I feel the power. I've eliminated all sway!!

In your opinion should the weight ever get outside the lead knee, after foot plant. I feel the weight on the inside of my front leg at foot plant.......that's a huge change for me and it's been rewarding!!

Thanks,

I think we've beat this subject to death, but I wanted one last opinion from you.

As Rich said in an earlier post....thanks for being civil and listening. I wouldn't bug you if I didn't value your opinion, even if we disagree. <<<

Hi Coach C

In all good swings the batter rotates around a fairly stationary axis. That axis is always between the legs. In your case, you derive rotation by thinking of having your weight on the hip-sockets. I feel my rotation is generated more from the extension of the lead-leg. This works well for me (and my students) because it also promotes having the lead-shoulder pulling back toward the catcher at contact (BHT and the “Hook”).

Coach C, I teach using the legs to aid in driving rotation around a stationary axis. I have never found the problems you have described. But if your cues are generating good rotation and promote efficient transfer mechanics in your swing, then by all means – stick with it.
