>>> All with power too I might add. Nick, I've mentioned this to Jack before and at the time he could not say for sure that bat cock equated to power, certainly some have more than others, but as you eluded to, there are many more that do not have it....Garret Anderson comes to mind. I think Jack has termed this move THT. I have always said....many times, it's a non-teach and many people appear to be getting bogged down with it (creating unnecessary wrist bind). Now let me be clear, the wrists and hands play a key role in getting into the swing plane correctly or better said, "play a key role in not screwing it up".

Nick and Coach C,
The Epstein drills are useless unless the upper body works. Mankins THT BHT and CHP are muted without lower body action and hips leading. Of the two ( and I do not want to miss quote Jack) but I believe he said " I have never seen a player with good upper body action with a bad swing". I tend to agree. I worked for 3 years on lower body action often neglecting the proper upper body load. You cannot make meaningful progress doing this. I will say that you can put a kids hands in a high cocked positon and with the lead elbow behind his belly button and he will have pop if they never move until the hips begin to rotate open. I know this creates a CHP not sure about the other two. I know it gets torque and batspeed. I cannot tell a HS player what THT is . I can show them on the heavy bag maybe but the bat going to the catcher ???? they cannot visualize it. "Keep the hands back until the hip rotation moves them works for the middle teer hitters.
