After pulling up this site, the pertinent information about bringing the hands in can be found under number 4 as you scroll down the page. The emphasis is on creating a V with both hands when creating the arc until contact.

Thus there is no need to cast in an effort to hit the pitch. In this way the hitter is trusting his CHP to use batspeed to hit through the ball/window of extention rather than trying reach the ball at a particular point.

And even though the actual bat ball collision takes place in a fraction of a second the hitter is able to influence the direction of the hit as a result of when his shoulder movement initiates the swing.
