Great Post, grc!

Does anyone have tips on how to get an 11 year to not drop hands before swinging. He knows he is doing this and is consciousely trying to correct. It would be great to have a few drills specific to correct.

My personal opinion is that when a newcomer asks a question, someone who is QUALIFIED should give a good faith opinion. Eventually the newcomer might revisit the site , buy Jack's DVD, learn, etc. But to tell a newcomer her question is invalid is the same as telling her to go away. I don't think all questions have to pertain to top hand torque for them to be valid questions.

If someone would ask if is advisable to hold the bat with 12 inces betwwen the hands (such as TY Cobb, herad of him?), I think that would be OK to answer, "sight unseen" without asking that person to "send a clip". And besides, where is this newcomer supposed to send the clip? FYI jack does not allow posting of clips.

Dear grc,

I absolutely love the wisdom that you offer to this site.

If a person tells a person that their mechanics are diametrically opposed to the truth, all one needs to do is look for an antonym to find it. Yet, some individuals not inclusive to hitting circles can falter in their attempt to find incorrect / correct matches.

Instead, a better alternative may be to tell where the truth lies, rather than giving imprecise circumlocutions that tend to skirt the truth.

The best way to accomplish this is to offer a positive solution.

Therefore, if individuals are to argue a point, such as opposing the linear shove of the top hand, their argument would benefit everybody if they advised individuals to "keep the top hand back," and allow the bottom hand to arc around it.

The latter statement owes much to Mankin, who, in most cases, has attempted to include a solution whenever he debunks an errant philosophy.

Other than that, I say let's put grc's idea into practice!

Cheers!
