Don't move your legs????

Posted by: Doug (stuckidog@hotmail.com) on Thu Apr 3 22:35:24 2008

I need a little advice. My 6 year old son has just joined machine pitch little league. For his first batting practice my wife recorded his at bat. I was expecting him to hit every one, like he does in the back yard. However, when I saw the video he stood there like his feet were nailed to the ground. It was an akward swing! I asked, "Hey buddy, why didn't you move your legs at all?" He commented that the coach told him not to move his legs. So he stood there with his rigid swing, not moving his legs. Why would the coach tell him that? Isn't it natural to lift your front leg and twist on your back foot for the "bug squishing" technique?

Any advice much appreciated.
