just wondering when/if the batspeed gurus (Jack, Paul, Lau) are going to have that debate... is it still on?

> Jeff M - It is absolutely untrue that Nyman's posts are being or have been deleted. Who did you hear that from? BatSpeed.com accepts posts from anyone with differing viewpoints, so long as the post complies with the posting policy (not harassing, degrading, mean spirited, offensive, pure advertisement, or without any content whatsoever).

> BHL - If anyone wants to discuss swing mechanics, we have an open discussion board. I don't care if the debate goes forward because, as previously noted, the primary focus of BatSpeed.com is to explain the batting mechanics used by the best hitters in the game and to teach those mechanics to anyone who wants to learn. We believe that BatSpeed.com accurately describes the swing mechanics of the best players in the game, and the debate essentially lends nothing to that end. However, to ensure that we are clear, Jack Mankin is not "retreating" from a debate. My last post on the status of the debate remains the same.
>
> During the 4-5 years before opening BatSpeed.com and during 5 years here, Mankin has always discussed and debated batting principles, regardless of who comes along with a new, old or disguised idea.
>
> One defining difference between Mankin and Nyman is what forces are applied to the BAT HANDLE. Until this is discussed, there is no point in engaging in further discussions. First and foremost, torque is a major dispute. Mankin states that it is an essential component of the swing and, if I understand correctly, Nyman denies that it exists. Therefore, if a discussion with Nyman were to ever occur, I'll give away one of the first questions in order to make certain that we are absolutely clear on Nyman's position, and then go from there:
>
> 1) Does Barry Bonds (the best slugging percentage hitter in the game) apply torque to the BAT HANDLE at ANY POINT A) before initiation of the swing (pre-launch); B) during the swing?
>
> A) yes or no.
> B) yes or no.
>
> No clarification or explanation is necessary for these straightforward questions. Don't be troubled BHL, the follow-up questions from Mankin will elicit the clarification.
>
> NOTE: don't expect a further question/response from us to any post that is made on another discussion board. At this time, we have no interest in playing some childish food-fight between discussion boards, which will accomplish nothing. A discussion/debate should be a professional exchange of ideas and principles, not a race to the bottom.

> Hi Brian,

Thank you for the clarification.

Just one more thing--in the future, I plan to discuss a productive way of hitting that fuses together the brilliant lower body "cues" of Epstein, and the ingenious upper body "cues" of Mankin.

I just hope that when I discuss Epstein, I do not endure the same wrath of zealots, as I did in February.

I also do not want to be inundated by warnings not to discuss Epstein on this site.

My proposal is fair, since it avoids inflamatory topics.

Sincerely,
BHL

P.S. What is advertising--promoting the sites of other gurus, or offering a dissenting opinion, which happens to be the teaching of a different guru. Brian, review my February posts (i.e., "Fence Drill"), and you will notice that whenever I try to speak in favor of lower body Epstein "cues" on the forum, some people turn volatile. Honestly, I am losing patience with a site that claims to be open, yet is rather curt with people who voice the opinions of other hitting instructors.
