All i can say is that it works for me and mine .. There are also problems with just the batting tee such as chasing balls unless you have a net and buying a dozen balls to go along with it, as well as no sense of timing, kids that try and hit it as hard as they can.

Problems with the swing away ... getting tangled up in the cords, no sense of timing at a moving object ... until the player develops proper hand/eye cordination.

You need someone that knows what they are doing to teach the proper mechanics for what ever "tool" that you use ...

You dont see the Hit n Stick on pro fields either but I sure see them plenty at select baseball and softball tournaments. And is another great little inexpensive tool..

Not to say that its good .. But I know of one well known professional hitting coach, ex big leager that teaches the rapid fire soft toss drill for developing batspeed and quickness..
It was on the Hugens web site .. Many may disagree with him but he is certainly qualified

As for the mom and dads pitching to their kids... I have saw very few moms and even dads that can pitch to their kids. I have tried that in practices and end up doing it all myself ...

Like i said .. It has sure helped us ..And im very pickey about what I use.

But that being said ... There is NO substitute for live pitching.. Be it the batting tee , swing-away , hit n stick , personal pitcher , and the hit away .

Any other input from others that have actually used it with their sons/daughters/ball team would be welcome. Im sure there are several.

Baseball/Softball is a great sport .. And it is about making it fun for a kid ..
