Combining occasional power with ball striking consistency

I've always wondered why I could NEVER hit for power so I finally looked it up on google and got your website. I'm 5'11" and close to 200 lbs. and am very athletic. I've been playing baseball from the age of five till 18 and softball since 18. I'm now 26. After reading for a couple hours, I'm pretty convinced that its my linear hitting mechanics(which was foreign to me before I started reading) that was always taught to me("knob to the ball", using mostly arms and wrists, etc.) which is why I could never hit for power. But I've been very successful with always having a high batting average by consistently hitting line drives with these linear mechanics, however, so I never complained as I let the other guys hit em out. In fact, I contribute my successes to the coach who taught me these mechanics back in high school. I don't want to convert to a home run hitting threat, as I believe my average will go down, but is there a way to like you said(be surprised with the home run ball) by changing to a rotational swing and still hitting the ball hard with as much consistency as I currently am with my linear hitting mechanics. Hopefully these questions in the above novel (haha) made sense. Thanks.
