Re: Rules?

What are the rules for behavior? You delay postings so you can screen, but what are you screening out? Is it only foul language disallowed, otherwise any insults are ok?

Hi Mort and all:

Here is a general set of guidelines that we have attempted to follow to this point in accepting posts on this board:

This is a discussion board that accepts posts related to baseball and softball batting, unlike a chatroom or news group which may accept every post. Certain posts may not be accepted, including the following situations: material that does not relate to baseball or softball; nuisance material; spam or chatroom material; advertising material; harassing material; terse posts that contain no questions, comparison or analysis; and other issues which may be reviewed on a case by case basis. We are attempting to protect the integrity of this board so that it can be enjoyable for the fans, coaches and players who want to learn and share different points of view related to baseball and softball.

It is also very important to point out that we encourage everyone’s point of view related to baseball and softball, including those that disagree with ideas presented on this site. If we were all in agreement, we would have very little to discuss. However, we simply encourage and request some tact and consideration when challenging another person’s point of view so that we can have a pleasant, educational and enjoyable discussion board to read.

Notably, the discussion board may or may not be placed in toggle (delay) mode. When the board is not in delay mode, posts immediately appear on the board. When the board is in delay mode, BatSpeed.com must authorize the post to appear on the board. We may or may not review every post for a variety of reasons, including the volume of posts. We determine which posts to review on a case by case basis and, thus, we may or may not review all posts and the content therein. Simply because a post appears on the discussion board does not mean that BatSpeed.com has approved the content of the post or determined that it complies with the posting policy. To that end, everyone is responsible for the content of his or her post – not BatSpeed.com. If anyone feels that a post on the discussion board should not have been authorized, please email us or use the "Contact us" button and we will review the subject post and delete it or the thread if necessary.

We have often noted that it is a slippery slope in reviewing posts because one person may make an innocuous statement about another person's ideas, and then the person feels obligated to respond with a slightly more aggressive comment and then it can go from there. It is difficult to determine at what point the posts go over the line because we try to give everyone an opportunity to respond to comments or criticism and make their point. It is simply difficult to determine in many cases which post finally goes over the line and must be deleted.

We realize that some peoples only objective is to "stir the pot" and cause trouble, and I can assure you that we are using our best discretion to keep reviewed posts that go over the line or violate the posting policy from appearing on the board. Again, if anyone feels that a post should not have been authorized, please email us or use the "Contact us" button and we will review post.

Thanks for your input and comments.

WE LET SOME POSTS GO THROUGH ON THIS TOPIC TO ADDRESS THE POSTING POLICY, BUT PLEASE SEND ALL FURTHER COMMENTS TO US BY EMAIL SO THAT WE CAN GET BACK TO PLAYING BALL.
