Dave Hugens

I am familier with Jacks teaching after having bought the video and later the CD ..

I also just purchased the Dave Hudgens set of CD's mainly for the drills and Power training info.

His teaching seems to be pure hands to the ball. Knob first, hands in close to the body and talks about why it is faster than than rotional and the bat stays in the zone longer if there is an error in timing. And is a more short and compact stroke.

My question is ... Hudgens is with the Oakland organization and I might assume has worked with many hitters as a major league hitting instructor.

Has anyone ever followed his methods here and how were the results. I am wanting to teach my baseball team and this seems much easier to understand than rotational, BHT, THT.

I have viewed many tapes given by others on this site such as bonds.. and in slow motion it looks like his bat knob starts toward the pitcher first during his swing. and still havent seen his front leg opening the hips as it appears to stay firm until after the ball is hit with the hips getting into play primarly from the back side first.

I guess what im asking for those that would know and involved with pro ball such as Doug ... Is what Hugens teaches in line with what most Pro instructors teach ... His way appears to be more suited for making good contact, line drives, and less strike outs than the rotational. But i sure dont want to teach the wrong thing to the kids.
