combo linear?

From what I could understand from posts made by Teacherman BHL and others it seems like rotation can have elements of linearism like Teacherman says maxiumum bat speed is at full extension and that you cant keep hront arm straight and also throw hands at ball. And Doug said Brett was taight by Lau but yet Brett was rotation and Lau was linear.BHL says pull the outside pitch but Jack says no I think, but Jacj says use tht for outside pitch but Teacherman says flick the bat with wrists and push ball the opposite field. Is rotation 100 percent rotation or can you be rotation but have elements of linear?Like Mcgwire had full extension but would anyone really call him linear? Derel Jeter is clearly linear but look at his stats.Clarificaction please!
