jack, i think part of the problem in people not having a clear understanding of tht is that you haven't explained it very well...in your diagram you define torque ok but you misinterpret what the hitter id doing.....you are showing the top hand heading toward the catcher and the bottom hand heading toward the pitcher....since these are two "opposing" directions you therefore call it torque...maybe it would be torque if in fact these were two forces (the top and bottom hands) acting in opposition to each other....however, even though the top hand may be headed toward the catcher, i don't see how that the top hand is acting in opposition to the bottom hand....at some point in the swing you could draw a diagram showing that BOTH hands are headed toward the catcher...at a certain point the bottom hand will start heading toward the pitcher while the top hand, still being "behind" is still headed toward the catcher...and after a certain point BOTH hands will be headed toward the pitcher....
i think the top hand towards the catcher thing is a legimate and important concept...i just think that "torque" is not an accurate description, nor do i think the pulling on the guitar thing is a good, clear description on how to accomplish the technique.....
