I think Ted Williams was right.He disagreed with Ty Cobb who said you should/could
stride to the pitch.Williams thought you should not because it was impossible due to
limted reaction time/rotational swing being substantially underway.

While you do not have time to recognize the pitch and then stride appropriately,you can
begin to recognize the pitch early enough that the body is making enough adjustment to
change exactly where and when the stride foot comes down for some hittters,Aaron
included.There may also be situations where you are anticipating/guessing in or out which
may change stride location.In that case,if you compare 2 swings where you get your
pitch,but the pitch you are looking for is different and anticipated well in advance,the
stride location may be different.
