Re: Moises Alou

Posted by: The Hitting Guru () on Sat Jul 24 09:48:26 2004

I have been watching Moises Alou hit for the last couple of months....and I cannot figure out how he hits the way he does....what does he do that enables him to hit the ball out of the ball park...and how does he generate batspeed.....

What allows Alou to hit is excellent hand eye coordination, upper body strength, good genes, and a basic technique that uses very little wasted movement. He just throws the bat to the ball. He does not really get his hands back to a good launch position. But he does use a very short stroke and stays in the hitting area longer than most free swingers. He also centers the ball (hits off the sweet spot) very well which makes up for part of a lack of good torque.
