What is the formula for calcluating the force at which a ball is hit? Is it the basic f=ma where m=is the bat weight and a=the speed at which the bat is going?

Hi Anonymous,

You are correct in your calculation. Let me just add one more thing: once you know the correct bat weight, you will have to know the correct bat acceleration--how fast the bat is traveling when it hits the ball, rather than the speed of the swing itself, as Mankin suggests.
