First welcome to the sight the Japanese palyers have brought skill and excitement to MLB. I hope more players come to play in the USA!!!!
I do not have all the clips you describe above so it is hard for me to comment. Here is further explanation:
The perfect model of the baseball swing-- Swinging or Hitting -- is the Gyroscope. Therefore, from The Top, the term "Crank the Gyroscope" describes both the Swinger's Drag Loading (10-19-C) and the Hitter's Drive Loading (10-19-A). In other words, both Swinger and Hitter 'Crank,' i.e., at Start Down, each tightens the Left Side Tension that supplies the initial Pull of the Downstroke.

"The difference is that, from The Top, the Swinger's Motion is an instantaneous acceleration that generates a continuous Centrifugal Left Arm Pull -- the Gyroscopic Spin of the 'Flywheel' -- whereas the Hitter's Motion begins as a deliberate resistance of the Backstroke that soon gives way to an out-and-out Muscular Right Arm Push. And it is the Hitter's Straight line Drive that diverts Centripetal Force (the bathead) into the Holy Grail of Gyroscopic Motion (2-K)." Yoda

Bottom line: You can pull with the left or push with the right. Therefore the swinger method will employ and early straight left arm as the left shoulder/arm pull rotationally to the left. You can crank the gyroscope either method!!!
