I don't feel it should be instructed to "lock the front leg", per say.
My opinion is that the hitting against a firm or stiff leg, is more of a by product of sound swing mechanics. Being from Boston, I like to reference Manny. I've looked at a fair amount of film. Does his front leg do the exact same thing every, single , solitary time, no!
My point is that every pitch is different and, a hitters swing is not going to 100% of the time, look picture perfect.
I mean why do their swings looked so grooved in BP or, at the home run hitting contest at the all star game each year?
My feeling is that they know whats coming and, can normally put a picture perfect swing on it.
One mans opinion :)
