I absolutely agree with John, now is the time teach him proper mechanics and not go for the quick fix that will end up hurting him in the long run. I see nothing wrong with a kid that can pull the ball. I'm also not sure what hitting straight means...up the middle? That has more to do with identifying the location of the pitch then anything else. Teach him to identify the pitch and then swing accordingly, inside pitch further out in front of the plate, outside pitch deeper on the plate. Nothing too technical from me, all the talk about linear and rotational is great for us coaches, but transitioning that into teaching a young kid is the key. Btw John in the south spring regular seasons are over.
