I have my kids get in what they feel to be a good plate coverage stance and, while in their knee flexed stance, have them eextend the bat across the plate BUT, with their back elbow tucked relatively close to their side. In another words, the arms are not extended at contact, they're slightly bent, due to the back elbow staying close to the body during the point of contact. There's so much that could be discussed, just based on your question. But, I think it's a good starting point.

Pam. Tune into the women's sofball on ESPN and the other sports network. In particular team USA. Also go to the "You Tube" site on line and look up women's softball. There is even a video of Team USA taking batting practice. Most of their hitters have wide stances. From there they take an inward turn while going into the launch position. You will learn a lot just from observing.
