JLB,

IMO If you rotate the hips and then rotate the shoulders there is to much slop, because your shoulders have to turn to far before the bat moves. As the shoulders are turning you are removing the slack (slop) from the arms. You are then just pulling the knob out from under the bat and turning like heck to get the barrel to the contact zone. If you are turning the barrel with the hands and lateraly tilting the hands do not have as far to travel in order to get in front, easier to stay inside and much quicker. Instant movement of the barrel.
