where is the best place for a batter to stand when hitting a fast pitcher
> our grils seem too hit better standing towards the front of the batter box and back with a slower pitcher is this right ir not?

I usually just read the posts here...but...decided to respond to this one if you don't mind...

A good rule of thumb that I was taught and have been teaching for quite some time (and it does work quite well for good plate coverage as well as affords the hitter a descent reaction time). This particular rule of thumb works for every hitting situation...from hitting a 90+ mph fastball to hitting a person who throws a change up that is maybe breaking wind if they're lucky...

Put the nose of the bat on the back nose or tip of the diamond portion of the plate. Then, lay it down at a 45 degree angle from that point towards where your back foot would normally go in the batter's box. Then, place your back foot two inches or so behind the knob of the bat. If you pick up the bat and extend the bat fully you will notice that you get good plate coverage from that point. Yet, still give yourself enough room/time to get around on the inside pitch.

Anyways...just my two cents...and I know it works from personal and teaching experience...

Thanks for listening...
