Unfortunately, Tony Gwynn (who was one of my favorite all-time players...hit for a tremendous average) uses linear descriptions of a beautiful rotational swing. Gwynn is narrating from his own mechanical perspective. He could never hit a ball as hard as Bonds does with his own mechanics, though.

I should have said that the THT and prelaunch are not discussed by Gwynn in his analysis of the swing. It would have been interesting to hear how he describes these movements :)
