Jack.
Linear hitting teaching principles may still be alive but Ted Williams rotational hitting has proven over and over again to be the most successful method of how to load up,time the baseball and hit the baseball hard with power and consistency, with only the necessary forward movement into the point of contact, the main fault i see in observing hitter after hitter of all ages from little league to high school to college[world series included]and major league hitters is simply losing the point of contact[a quote from Ty Cobb to Ted Williams and from Pete Rose to all of us,[SEE THE BALL HIT THE BALL] [YOU CANNOT HIT WHAT YOU CANNOT SEE]The head must stay perfectly still and eyes focused on the ball into the point of contact,an old but very true comment made to me by Hank Bauer and Johnny Hopp a fifteen year major league veteran when i played for him in the minor leagues was [BOW YOUR NECK]meaning, get that chin to the front shoulder look at the incoming ball with both eyes leave chin there and let the rear shoulder come to it at the peak of the swing.
