Re: Re: Tom – Front hip clarification

A couple of quick notes.

I am BIG on importance/dominance of upperbody/arm action or as Jack might say emohasis on good transfer mechanics.

I probably put a little more emphasis on lower body from an overall learning perspective,But Jack's even more upper body arm emphassi makes sense as a way to improve experienced but still "linear" players to a fuller rotational pattern.

With regard to video/front leg/front hip,I think in analysis you need to separate the front leg action fromt the hip action/position.

If you look at motionanalysis in the "persistent mode" (put a marker/markers on and show progression of selected marker for duration of a swing) to demonstrate "center of gravity",the center will usually go down and forward then stop forward progress and go UP before contact.Body is almost entirely supported on the front leg in this case.Front leg has to work with hips to do this. There is an "ideal"/universal way this needs to happen in the rotational vs "linear" pattern that "Experts" (especially in golf) recognize in overall body description terms as whether or not you are "reverse pivoting" and "spinning" ("linear" or "nonrotational") or not (rotating well).
