I am having trouble adjusting to getting a good feel before I hit a slow pitch ball compared to hitting a baseball. For some reason it does not come natural to me as hitting a baseball does.

I've played both slo-pitch and baseball. The timing is different which confuses people. The mechanics are the same as far as the swing goes. My philosophy in slo-pitch is I try and hit the ball up the middle. I aim for the centre of the ball. This helps with my timing. The baseball player's instinct is to start the swing as the pitcher releases the ball. In slo-pitch patience is key. You start the swing a lot later. And my last trick I use in slo-pitch is a smooth laid back swing. For some reason the ball seems to riffle off the bat like this. And you tend to hit the sweet spot of the bat more often which is huge! You generate your own power in slo-pitch as the speed of the ball that is pitched to you is non-existent. So your mechanics must be flawless to have good pop. There'e nowhere to hide.
