Re: Help with bat size

Personally, I like to go small on bat size. This is pretty funny because I am almost 16 and I am 5' 10 and about 185 pounds and also swing a 32" 29 oz. bat. I have always prefered the feeling of the smaller bat to the larger because I don't like to drag the bat through the zone. I like that extra oz, I have swung with a batting cage bat that was 32" 30 oz. and it felt great when solid contact was made. I think that in general smaller is the way to go in order to control the bat more through the zone and me unlike most of my teammates have always prefered the smaller bat. I have been swinging 32" 29 oz since I was 13 and am still very very comforatable with thier size. However I have been a big kid all my life and never had a problem swinging this size. For you I might suggest using a lighter bat for great control and speed but thats just a personally prefrence.

I have a follow up question on my own bat size for someone also. Like I said I am about 5'10 and wiegh 185 pounds. I am atheletically built and am very comfortable with the 32" 29 oz. bat. I have been pondering whether to change to 33 inch bats but I am so comfortable with the smaller bat I don't know what to do. The problem is: I am big in size but my frame isn't that big, my arms aren't very long and it seems the 32 is right for me. Anyone have any advice?
