Speedchek problems

Anyone know what's going on?
I'm using a Speedchek at an indoor batting cage and it keeps lighting up with 3 MPH, over and over. We can't throw and get a reading. This never happens in my basement.
Shielding it with cardboard boxes, etc. doesn't give significant relief. Can't figure out if it is the lights, the net it is reading through (still does it inside the cage) or what.
