Switch Hitting

Posted by: Angus (admc@sasktel.net) on Mon Jun 13 06:22:21 2005

My 11 year old son can hit from both sides of the plate. Last season in the 9 & 10 division he was able to hit to hit consistantly when turned around. This season he has moved up a division where the pitching is much faster. His coaches this season want him to hit only from his natural (left) side to in order to concentrate on his swing and good hitting. They told me that once he starts catching up to the faster pitchers from the left he can try switch hitting in certain situations. I'm not sure I agree. Any thoughts?
